Fears & Phobias!

Postby Saxoneer » Wed Nov 16, 2011 4:44 pm

I guess I'm a bit of a daredevil and not a lot scares me. My biggest fear/phobia I would guess is insects, I don't mind watching them as I find them fascinating but I couldn't pick one up with my naked hands. I'm okay if I'm wearing a glove so long as it's not too ugly looking!

The one insect I find most fascinating is the Praying Mantis with its alien head. I sat for what seemed hours one day looking at one on the tree next to me, the strange thing was that it kept turning its head as if it was studying me as I was it, but don't ask me to pick one up!

I do not like ants. I don't know why as spiders, snakes and other bugs don't bother me at all.

It is not as bad now as when I was a kid, but I still freak out if they crawl on me.

My biggest fear my entire life, since I think my early 20's it started, was being abducted by Aliens and having weird things done to me. But that fear went away sometime in my late 40's early 50's.

Now my biggest fear is: I am extremely close to be being able to retire, a little over 2 years until I am 62, so I have the finish line in sight and I am very afraid they are going to stop the race.

I also don't like to fly. Nothing else really scares me, perhaps I Fear The Reaper, but only in the sense that he might come too early for me or my husband.

OK Bats, we have Bats and they come out at dusk and swoop and fly around the yard, they creep me out, something is just not right about flying mice!

Snakes give me the creeps. Anything that moves without legs yet could eat one of mine is something I can't be around. My two biggest fears are drowning to death or burning to death in a fire...I could kick the bucket any other way than those two. eeeek

Now, there is hardly even one thing that scares me or bothers me, maybe heights. I seem to have a very strong sense of self preservation.

One thing I found interesting is here on Terra they've been doing a lot of research into the influence of past lives on our current ones, and it definitely prompted a rather interesting conversation between my friend Lucar and I. The studies basically mentioned that things that happen in our past lives, like someone that drowned in their most recent past life will have a fear of water/drowning in their current one. Or, someone that has an fear of spiders would have been likely killed from a spider bite. Lucar said it's a karma thing and that on our subconscious levels while we made an mistake or improper judgement call in the past life, we are determined in this one to not make the same mistake, and so it consciously manifest it's self as a fear or phobia in our current lives. That really seems to make sense from what I've read of the studies and my own personal research I've done into this.

There are things I don't like but until I had, three times, an alligator, in the presence of many other observers, turn towards me as I approached and start swimming right to me, I wasn't afraid of alligators. Not that I'd swim with them or anything like that, just that I didn't fear them when I saw one in a lake and I was on shore. Now, since this has happened to me three times, If I know there's a gator somewhere, I don't go there to look at it.

And Buffalo. Just the thought of a buffalo behind a fence and I get verry very nervous. I had to leave the gallery at the auction when a young Buffalo went through. He did try to climb out, I heard, so I'm glad I wasn't near him. But, I'm 5/8 Native American, so, who knows, maybe I was eaten by an alligator and run over and killed by a Buffalo in past lives.

A small child that lived near me was DEATHLY afraid of dogs since birth. He wasn't around any dogs, so he hadn't had any bad experiences in THIS life with them, but he would scream bloody murder if his mom passed my house wheeling him in his stroller and my dog was outside. He was only about 14 or so mths old the first time I saw him and my dog was a little Cocker Spaniel who was just standing there with me wagging her tail.

See, there you go. Great examples of it. I remember also reading in a book about Ghost Stories etc associated with the Ocean, there is this story of a boy that apparently died in the Titanic Sinking (which wasn't an accident btw.) and in his current life was afraid of drowning even to the point where he wouldn't take a bath with out being terrified. When he was old enough to talk he told his mother about having died in the Titanic Sinking, and I really don't remember much more of the details from there, but another good example of this.

Ok along those same lines.

We have a lot of high mountain passes in our state. And all of my life they have scared the bejesus out of me. My aunt, who is a few years older than me, she has never liked them either. While everybody is sight seeing and oohing and ahhing, I was almost always hiding my eyes.

My aunt and I have a very close psychic bond, many times we go to call each other and both are dialing at the same time, or the other will pick up the phone to call and one of us is already on the phone and we have just finished dialing and the phone didn’t have a chance to ring. We very often know what the other is thinking and finish a sentence for the other.

Anyway she had past life regression a few years ago. It was revealed to her that she and I have had many lifetimes together, in our most recent past last life together, she was my husband and we were on a wagon train on the Oregon Trail coming out west. Our wagon went over a cliff and we were both killed.

After she told me this, the next time we had to cross over one of our passes, I was no longer scared at all and could finally enjoy the view!

I am not totally sold on all of this, the past life regression business, but I did find it very odd that after hearing this from her I can go on a high mountain pass now and have no fear.

Boy if you ever want to go on some high passes, go to Wyoming ! good god!

Vertigo, severe vertigo. The background starts shifting, and I feel like I'm moving with it. Can't look out to the left or right when driving over a bridge. Nightmares not just falling, but falling to earth from space.
To try overcoming my fear of heights, when I get somewhere too high, I'll get a real good grip onto something and purposely start looking down. Then it can be like an amusement park ride. I'm starting to come down safely in the nightmares too sometimes, turning them into dreamy joyrides.
But just a few steps up a ladder and I'm dangerous.
...peace.

I'm also afraid of looking down from high places, but not afraid at all to go up there...For instance, I was on my friend's roof and we were having a party, but when it was time to come down, I refused, thinking I would fall and break something....he had to get a mattress and put it behind the ladder LOL I'm a rollercoaster addict, and I love flying, but I cannot climb down a ladder to save my life !! I'd honestly rather jump
