A few nights ago I was reading the War of the Worlds, 1898, by H. G. Wells. I have read this book many times and once again I found myself wondering where he came up with the idea for machines that build other machines, laser type weapons, and seeding the planet with Red Weed which would change the environment making it suitable for the aliens?

I aslo like the idea that something as simple as the common cold would cause the demise of the invaders, much as the Europeans did to the peoples of the Americas when they first arrived.

If you ever get the chance, find the original recording of the broadcast done by Orson Welles (no relation) and his Mercury Theater cast. My Dad had the record of the broadcast (it is in a box now, but we still have it) and I remember bringing it in for the elementary school to listen too. They all loved it.

It's a question often asked of science fiction writers, "where do they get their ideas from?" I know David Icke once said that the ideas were beamed into their heads by aliens

I think they get their ideas from a cosmic consciousness energy field, (Akashic Records), that is inter-dimensional, and that some stories, maybe of actual lives of other dimensions in other galaxies or even other universes.
