Embarrassed to admit this but...

...I've actually never seen the movie Planet of the Apes (the original). A friend of mine just lent it to me on DVD. At this point is it worth my while?

Yeah it is well worth a watch. I really love the Tim Burton remake too, a lot of people don't care for it, but I do.

There is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes films in the works tentatively titled Rise of the Apes. It is scheduled for November 2011 (Thanksgiving).

I liked the original although it is a bit cheesy and also liked the Tim Burton remake for being imaginative.

I used to watch it all the time with my dad, and I liked it. I love the newer one with Mark Wahlberg.

I know I already said it, but me too. I really don't know why more people didn't like it. I especially liked the ending. But everything about it was just so well done.

Alright i guess i might as well take a couple hours out of my life and sit down and watch it. It just hit me the other day that a few of the classic sci-fi movies that i heard so much about growing up i've actually never seen...such as the following:

Planet of the Apes
Dune
Logan's Run

And i guess if you count Soilent Green as sci-fi then that was well. I haven't seen SG but i do know the basic premise, and there's a funny story about it. In New Hope PA, just over the Delaware River from NJ there is a small ice cream shop that has the flavor "soilent green". When a customer asks "what is soilent green?" the employees all run up to the counter and go "soilent green is people ahhhhhhhhh!!!!". It's pretty damn funny.

Dune is worth a watch I think! Any movie with Sting dressed in pretty much a winged leather diaper is worth my time. :P Maybe not so much for you, and also Patrick Stewart ( Captain. Picard has a good role in it).

There are many reasons for me to watch Dune, though i can say that Sting in a speedo is not on the list...however that won't keep me from watching it either.

Well I am not surprised to hear that (not that there would be anything wrong if ya did).
