What's everyones take on "The Event"? Annunaki Decedents or some other angle.

Just finished the 1st season.

The show is ok by now. I'm just afraid that they could turn it into the next soap opera - just like BSG and SGU. Let's hope it won't happen.
As for now I recommend it for all AAT people:)

It sounds like a really interesting show, I'll wait for it to come out on DVD if it lasts a couple of seasons or so.

This show is good. I think of it as a "softcore" introduction to aliens. I am starting to wonder why all these alien themed shows are on t.v. now? Is the government trying to get people used to the idea that aliens exist and could come here at anytime? The new season opener was especially good.

With this show there are two choices: End the season with a cliffhanger and hope for renewal (in which the viewer does not know what the "event" is) or complete the storyline knowing that the show will not be renewed. That makes it difficult for me to take the time and watch this show, knowing I might be very disappointed at the end.

mobius, it is not an Anunnaki angle, it is just aliens from a star system, that originally came here some 80 years or so ago, some maybe longer ago, to find a new home. The head mother's sone has another agenda to take over the world. aliens fighting aliens, and the u.S. government is after them all, whether the good ones, or the bad ones, cause they do not like aliens here for any reason at all. The next phase is more coming?

I strongly recommend that everyone is to start watching "The Event" show!

The whole series is perfect but the last episode was mind blowing. It involves the whole ancient aliens concept.
I don't want to make spoilers so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Been watching since day one last fall! Heck of a series! I love it. I have not watched last nights yet due to my other half always works on Mondays but we are watching tonight on dvr. Can't wait!

The biggest reason why The Event is being canceled is because not many are watching it. It is a serialized science fiction show and they are very risky to begin with. Many people do not want to get invested in this type of series only to have it get canceled.

I will wait until it is out on DVD and watch it.

I cant believe the show is cancled! The season finale was great! What is really cool is how they tied the show ending to a new "Planet" in the sky. I hope it comes back....Im calling and writing emails!

Planet X or Nibiru seems like it may have got them on thinking in those terms, you think? I also bet that it was way too controversial in certain circles for them to continue, and it probably ahd nothing to do with ratings!

I agree, canceling had nothing to do with ratings. Funny how it is applicable to the times though.

Under five million viewers a week are not good ratings for such an expensive show. It was placing number four of the other shows in the slot only beating the CW.

If the DVD sales are great anything can happen. Many TV shows also got second shots after posting great rerun numbers during the summer (remember Simon and Simon?). That means there is always hope it might come back either as a limited run series or TV movies.

Just my two cents on the event tv show ...
the first half was great in that there was a lot of mystery and the story line was building nicely... some great
story lines that went back into the past to tell a morale story (one that comes to mind is the alien Simon who
found the love of his life again when she was an old woman)..

however the last 10-12 episodes devolved into a farce ... good guys Vs bad guys , one chasing he other
with loads of people getting unnecessarily killed and becoming about as predictable as it is that I will get up
tomorrow morning!

Towards the ends I coulnt help thinking that it was just more american propaganda ALA 24 & jack Bauer .. e.g:
te super duper whiter than white (coloured ... Obama anyone?!) president returns just in time to save the day.
I also could nt help noticing the use of the term 'New World Order' in a few episodes and also many a scene with
geo-engineering-chemtrails in the background ... what amounts to subliminal normalizisation for the general public!

I am not sorry that its not been renewed !! Predictable and ultimately even though it had promise was ruined by a
sloppy storyline that was sooooooo predictable !

I disagree, in that, it is something of a new genre, that gets very little respect, due to most of the public being ignorant, on subject such as the AA Theory. I think more shows of this type need to come out of the closet, to get people used to the idea, of alternate histories. Whether the story tellers were rushed or not to end it, is another subject.

They were given time to wrap things up, but there has been talk of bringing the series back for a limited run or TV movie on a cable network. The problem is keeping the costs down, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. The audience was tiny on NBC, and it would be even smaller on cable.

I think if it is put on syfy, it would have a bigger following, as they have a regular fan base, that others do not!
