What's your passion?

Postby Saxoneer » Sat Nov 05, 2011 2:10 pm

Apart from Ancient Aliens...!

I love history, there's nothing like being in a place and letting your imagination loose. For example, sitting on the bridge of the USS Lexinton and imagining the ship being alive, people scurrying around, aircraft taking off. Or, sitting on the rocks of The Devil's Den, Gettysburg, and imagining all the noise and confussion taking place around you.

I also love ghost hunting when I get the opportunity.

And there's nothing like a relaxing day at the range with your wife (when she's not outshooting me).

Movies of all types, history, collecting things (coins when I have money, although I have a lot of books now) are some of my passions.

When you work in animal welfare it's not a 9-5 job and you work, eat and breathe animal rescue. But I do have some outlets to recharge my batteries.

Besides Ancient Aliens I also love reading about history, antiquing and browsing thrift stores to find that 1 million dollar item I'll have appraised at the Antiques Roadshow;
I also make and sell fashion jewelry for animal lovers on my website as a little side thing.

Movies. Particularly silent films, both foreign and domestic and classic movies on up into Film Noir.

Reading Murder Mysteries.

My dog.
Going camping at the beach and/or in the woods. Mostly the beach, I could just walk or sit on the beach forever, just watching and listening to the waves.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!

I love reading on Ancient Civilizations, history, science fiction, documentaries, and out of place artifacts. I love people and animals. The animals I like most are dogs, then cats, then horses, then birds, then ferrets, but I also like many other animals, just not to have at home. I really enjoy good Comic Strips, and I love to draw and ink, paint, sculpting, and woodworking. I enjoy helping others in many ways, whether through hardships, or just looking for the right drill bit, or getting off alcohol and drugs. I enjoy fishing,= as long as I am going to eat what I catch. I will only hunt if I need the food to eat. I enjoy Spiritualism, Gnosticism, and Alchemy. I really enjoy sex also, but I am sure we all do. "Just had to add that one in there". Other than that I am a a lazy hyperactive no good scoundrel, who just stays out of trouble for the heck of it!

I am guessing you watch a lot of TCM, which is one of my favorite channels. Last Sunday they showed the silent shorts of Laurel and Hardy and the other night they showed the Hammer Films foray into adventure movies She starring Ursula Andress, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.

The older noir films are my favorites including The Maltese Falcon and Double Indemnity.

Geology and Earth sciences are also in my interests along with Paganism.

I have a coin and stamp collection from days gone by. I also used to design spaceships and send them in to NASA. They always sent me a data sheet on the space shuttle or something similarly lame. I guess I shoud have sent them to DARPA...might have gotten more realistic responses.

I love deep techie sci-fi and enjoy creating the "perfect" acoustic chamber in my studio. I also love heavy metal music. Philosophy has gone weird for me since I have gone Agnostic. Religion seems to be the joke on mankind and the root of all evil.

Otherwise, I am just a guy...
