Bob, if you ever get a chance, go and rent the movie They Live by John Carpenter. The words I did are a homage to when the main character (who has no name but was referred to as Nada in the script) puts on a special pair of sunglasses and finds out what our world really looks like.

The movie is more relevant today than it ever was when it was released in 1988.

There are a lot of good points here lately. I wish more people would read this blog.

I think it went off the rails for us after the Wall came down; as we became the world's only Super Power, things changed. And as our enemies became faceless, I think we regressed even further (into the Police State). It's almost ironic, as our communist enemy faded into the background, we emerged from their shadow flexing our muscle against a common foe (in Afghanistan) and incorporated many of the same Soviet propaganda tactics while trying to re-structure the Middle East. The rhetoric coming from our country in the form of foreign policy is truly mocked in most other countries as we are perceived as an overly aggressive bully who has a hidden agenda that conflicts with our stated puropose. I lived out of the country for 5 years; it's a different perspective when you don't have CNN, Fox and the WSJ to shape your view on world events.

I think there is a power that makes thinking for oneself very difficult these days. The constant barrage of messaging from all the media outlets (even educational ones) have effectively re-conditioned the population to the point of a solid brain wash.

CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES: The first paragraph;
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure Posterity, so ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

So what happened to promoting the general welfare of the people instead of just the rich and the corporations, and the banks?
The Bill of Rights states a government such as this now should be overthrown!

I know what you mean though, like a constant noise or buzz in the background; always on, stealing common sense; reprogramming values.

That may have died when "promote the general Welfare" became equated with "welfare".
