Gold & Silver Currency in Utah

Postby Foxlike Mulder » Mon Apr 16, 2012 10:05 am

Sign of the Times? This news has been pretty low key, but very interesting none-the-less...a couple key points: 1) look at where this press conference is taking place; is it a pawn shop? I'm not sure, but I am certainly wide-eyed over the Governor of Utah speaking with a rack of guns clearly in his background. 2) Utah is clearly concerned over the status of US currency.

Any store can use any means they wish to take for money. Pawn shops make tons of money buying gold at a fraction and selling it at market price.

I look at it this way: If there is a huge event causing total breakdown of everything a person with a house full of canned goods with no can opener will pay a couple of gold bricks for one.

That's just it, if everything goes to hell and we are catapulted back to the dark ages, can openers and bullets and seeds are going to be big trade items.

But eventually, if enough people are left and we try to pick up the pieces and start again, then gold will be a very handy item, but in the first few years we are going to need other things, you can't eat gold and it won't keep you dry.

That must have been a sporting Goods Store.

I second that. You can not eat gold, it maybe will get you shelter somewhere. But then you should think. Do you really want shelter in a place where you have to pay for it. Then the same situation as now will come again. Do you want that now that you survived and can start all over again even if you won't last long. Even if you have no knife, you can make one with paper, water and glue. There is glue all around in nature. Educate yourself in survival. That is very important, otherwise the only onces who can will be the onces in Para-Militair and Goverment circles. No offene, but thanks anyway. They can go there way, I'll go mine

We are human, we are the top of the bill on this planet. There are no smart or stupid people, there are good , bad people and people who are affraid. Good not meaning never do nothing wrong. Let's hope that in a situation like that the good survived the mistakes of current leaders. Just like now you will have to choose, where do I want to be at what price ??

The 2010 elections are a year that many stayed home but the more fringe went out and voted. We are now seeing some very draconian laws being passed as many are from the End of the World is coming right now type.

I don't take much of what they are doing too seriously, although I guess I should as some of our most basic rights are being taken away from us.

The irony is those who are taking away the rights are the ones who ran on a Tea Party type ticket. They all voted to keep the Patriot Act and many in the state level are making many procedures some women choose to do very difficult if not illegal. These same people cried about Obamacare and can't see the irony of what they are doing by allowing the state to decide what is best.

Totally agree! And I'm "beside myself" about what's happening in the Virginia legislature with regard to women's rights there...when my wife heard she was on the verge of tears she was so angry. And here's something I heard today...mandatory black boxes in all new vehicles starting in 2015 (a bill called MAP-21, already passed the Senate). These boxes will record all activity and whereabouts. Proponents of the bill say the info is not accessable without a warrant...uhhh, see Patriot Act. How in the world is this stuff happening in the United States? SOPA has already been replaced with CISPA which is apparently even worse than SOPA. Oh, and that MAP-21 bill also has a provision for tax dodgers...anyone owing more than $50K gets their passport revoked. Let's see, "we know where you are, and you can't leave the country"...I wonder what comes next...back to debtor jails?

At least there is a choice in Mitt Romney where he has espoused a view everybody else once held. He ran to the left of Teddy Kennedy when he was up for a Senate seat and ran to the right of Rick Santorum (if that was even possible) in the primaries. Now, he is shaking that Etch-A-Sketch and already has thrown his immigration adviser under the bus.

I know Mitt has all my positions on the issues along with yours, Fox and everyone else here. All they have to do is tell what they think and he will parrot their opinions to get their votes. The thing is it is working for him and he has a real chance of winning this fall.

As to Obama v Romney...

and to quote one of my favorite irrelevant political comments: "It's a moot point!"

It matters not who wins this election, the progress the country (and world) needs will not occur without a major (and I do mean major) precipitating event.
