Paleo Diet

Postby JessieD » Sun Jan 15, 2012 7:38 pm

I'm changing my eating habits to the paleo diet. I'm currently eating a paleo brownie which is made from pulverized walnuts and am also enjoying a glass of chardonnay.Image

I saw in the latest copy of World Explorer magazine that someone visited the paleo restaurant in Berlin (it's called Sauvage). The food looks and sounds good.

Anyone else eating Paleo?

In a nutshell, for anyone asking what the hell the paleo diet is...You can eat unprocessed: meats, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. No dairy, no legumes, no grains, no sugars, no potatoes, no corn.

Yeah yeah yeah. I don't drink much. In fact, I usually have water, tea, or coffee (just black)....sometimes even a glass of coconut milk. I let the wine slide.

I haven't fully given up cheese, I've just cut WAY back. My nephew (4 yrs old) is a cheese fiend and I take pieces of his cheese. Beans were hard to give up, but I don't even care now.

I have gotten down to a size 4 by doing the paleo diet and working out. I was hoping to find someone else eating this way. It's always nice to find people to talk to about eating habits.

I like eating lots of vegetables and lean meat, but no way would I give up dairy. I gotta have my Milk. Cheese I can do without but I go through a gal of milk in 5 days. Not giving that up, we women need our calcium.
I have a problem giving up potatoes and rice. Love potato chips~!

There's better ways to get calcium. Humans are all naturally lactose intolerant, some more than others.

That's why I only drink lactose-free skim milk. Not that I'm intolerant but it's just easier that way, with me drinking protein shakes all the time lol

My brother drinks soy juice (you can't get milk from a soybean), but I don't drink it except for the occasional bowl of cereal. Even then, I usually eat cereal without milk as it is a great snack.

I had to lose weight for surgery and did it by cutting back on much of everything. It can be tough, but I lived and still eat a bit better.

Congratulations on losing the weight as it is not easy to do, especially with family members who have all kinds of glorious junk food lying around.

I stay away from soy since it's a legume.

My sister is lactose intolerant - big time - and she really likes rice milk (which I also stay away from since it's rice and I don't eat grains).
